About Black Forest

When viewed from the summit of Pikes Peak, the Black Forest looks like a large black mass. Hence the name "Black Forest". Since much of this area is located in unincorporated El Paso County many of the homes in the area rely on well and septic for water and sewer. The major zip code in Black Forest Colorado Springs is 80908 and the area is home to 2 popular parks managed by the El Paso County Parks Department, Black Forest Regional Park and nearby Fox Run Regional Park. The Black Forest Regional Park is the perfect place for a picnic or family gathering with its trails, picnic pavilions, and tennis courts.

People generally live in the Black Forest because they are seeking privacy, love the trees or want to have their horses close by. Whatever the reason, this area is very popular. The Black Forest is so large it covers several school districts; Academy School District 20,  Falcon School District 49and Lewis-Palmer School District 38. The Black Forest community is tightly knit with a centrally located community center, larger lots, views of the front range, and some great options for public schools. Many Black Forest homes have spectacular views of Pikes Peak, privacy, and many nearby recreational opportunities.

In the summer of 2013, this area suffered the Black Forest Fire, a massive wildfire which burned thousands of acres and destroyed almost 500 homes. The rebuilding of this area has already started and this is a great area to consider for building a new home. Black Forest, Colorado is a great place to look to build a new home or search for land for sale.

The Black Forest area also received some notoriety in the 1990s on the show "The Sightings". The Lee Family noticed some paranormal activity occurring on their property including sightings of shadowy figures and unexplained phenomena. The footage from their motion detectors and cameras convinced many that the area was haunted.

Similar neighborhoods include: Monument, COPeyton, CO and Falcon, CO.
