While this family-friendly neighborhood has plenty of parks and playgrounds for kids to enjoy, it is really known for its beautiful scenery, stunning mountain views, and convenient location. The climate is also moderate, with mild winters and cool summers, and there are a ton of activities available to residents. 
The area has a strong sense of community that was only made stronger by the tragic Waldo Canyon fire. The Waldo Canyon Fire was a devastating wildfire that occurred in the summer of 2012. The fire started on June 23rd and quickly grew out of control. It eventually destroyed 347 homes in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood and caused $453 million in damage. The fire was finally contained on July 10th, after burning for 17 days.

WALDO CANYON FIRE

The Waldo Canyon Fire had a significant impact on the community of Mountain Shadows. Many residents lost their homes and had to relocate. The neighborhood also experienced a high level of crime due to the destruction of property.
After the Waldo Canyon Fire, the community of Mountain Shadows came together to rebuild. Many residents donated their time and money to help with the reconstruction efforts. The neighborhood also received support from the city of Colorado Springs and the state of Colorado.
Today, the Mountain Shadows neighborhood is once again a thriving community. The homes that were destroyed have been rebuilt, and the area is slowly returning to its pre-fire state. The community has come together to create a stronger, more resilient Mountain Shadows.

The pool is a great place to cool off in the summer and features a diving board, a slide, and a kiddie pool. The pool is also surrounded by a deck where residents can relax in the sun. FLYING W RANCH

Flying W is a historic ranch located in Colorado Springs. The ranch was established in 1864 and is one of the oldest ranches in the state.
